Love, the Magician

A ballet, a classic concert, a gypsy song... what is really Love, the Magician?

This magnificent music is all that and much more. Inspired by the Flamenco singing and dancing, this work is an excellent fusion composed by the well renowned Spanish composer Manuel de Falla who combines classical and folk styles in a story of intense love and tragedy. The result is a unique composition, one of the most celebrated works of Spanish musical culture.

Love, the Magician (El amor brujo in Spanish) is a Gypsy drama originally composed in 1914 - 1915 as commission for the popular flamenco Gypsy artist Pastora Imperio. It tells the story of Candela, a gypsy girl, whose love for Carmelo is tormented by the ghost of her faithless former lover.
