Each letter is paired with a work that resonates with the content: a musical journey wandering from Johann Sebastian Bach to contemporary compositions, brought to vivid life by the Kremerata Baltica chamber orchestra and Gidon Kremer himself.
« ‘Life Fragments in Letters’ is a new project by Gidon Kremer, featuring musicians from the Kremerata Baltica ensemble. In this project, Kremer recreates his life, both in and out of music, from his early years to the present day, through letters to his family, colleagues, and friends. Through a polyphony of thoughts, doubts, revelations and paradoxes, and in a dialogue with the world around him and himself, the author's life path — sometimes dramatic, sometimes bizarre, but always unpredictable and filled with searches and discoveries — emerges from these fragments. The rich musical score of the evening, featuring works spanning four centuries, from Bach to Piazzolla, forms the second, equally important part of the self-portrait, providing a counterpoint to the letters' texts and offering a direct emotional response to their content. »
