Alexander Raskatov was born in Moscow on March 9, 1954, and graduated from the Moscow Conservatory in 1978. His main interests are vocal and instrumental chamber music and symphonic music. His outstanding abilities find expression in his vivid imagination and emotional language, which he combines with distinct and elaborate structural processes. Alfred Schnittke considered him "one of the most interesting composers of his generation".
The Kremerata Baltica and Gidon Kremer share a fruitful and continuous collaboration with Alexander Raskatov. His music is a great jewel in our repertoire.
