Katrīna Anna Pelnēna was born in Riga, Latvia, in a family of musicians. At the age of 5 she began her professional studies in Emīls Dārziņš Music School, studying viola with Una Vikštrēma and then Ināra Brīnuma. In 2019 Katrīna began her Bachelor studies at the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of music with professor Arigo Štrāls, until she went on the Erasmus+ exchange program to the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, where since 2022, Katrīna continiues her Bachelor studies with professors Atso Lehto and Jakob Dingstad.
Katrīna has participated in masterclasses with Yuri Bashmet, Maxim Rysanov, Nils Monkemeyer, Tim Frederiksen, Joaquìn Riquelme Garcia, Ulrich Knorzer, Vladimír Bukač, Teemu Kupiainen and other great musicians. She has played with the Finnish Radio Symphony orchestra, the Animato Foundation orchestra, the Karajan Academy orchestra and other orchestras and chamber ensembles, with which she has performed concerts in the Philharmonie Berlin, Konzerthaus Berlin, Vienner Konzerthaus, Helsinki Music Centre and other concert halls.
Katrīna is a member of Kremerata Baltica since 2022.
