“Grammy” Nomination for Kremerata Baltica Chamber Orchestra

Recording “Mieczysław Weinberg” released by ECM (producer Manfred Eicher) has been nominated for the Grammy award in category “Best Classical Compendium.”

The recording is performed by Kremerata Baltica Chamber Orchestra and soloists Gidon Kremer (violin), Daniil Trifonov (piano), Giedre Dirvanauskaite (violoncello), Daniil Grishin (viola) and Danielis Rubinas (double bass). The main criteria of the category implies that the album is “developed and united by an artist, composer, tribute, thematic idea, musical or other unifying concept.”  Among five other albums it is to compete for the reward of 2014.

Works of Mieczysław Weinberg will be of exceptional importance in the annual XII Kremerata Baltica festival to be held in June 2015 in Sigulda, Cesis, Riga and Jurmala (Latvia).
