Women in classical music is the focus of the Kronberg Academy Festival 2021. 26 compositions by female composers were programmed for the festival’s 14 concerts.
We performed two concerts during the festival performing with established soloists and the students of the Kronberg Academy. We were led by an Austrian-Spanish conductress Teresa Riveiro Böhm.
One of the highlights of the festival for us was working on a composition by the Lithuanian composer Raminta Šerkšnytė that was commissioned especially for this festival by the Kronberg Academy. The two-movement composition "This too shall pass" for violin, cello, vibraphone and strings was performed with the soloists Gidon Kremer, Magdalena Ceple and Andrei Pushkarev. We are very happy to have this piece in our repertoire now and looking forward to performing it many more times!
