On June 15, the long-serving director of the Kremerata Baltica orchestra, Ingrīda Zemzare, concluded her tenure as the orchestra’s director after receiving a Certificate of Recognition from the Cabinet of Ministers and heartfelt congratulations from Minister of Culture Nauris Puntulis.
Musicologist and Doctor of Arts Ingrīda Zemzare, serving as a board member of the state-owned limited liability company Kremerata Baltica, has provided invaluable support over 26 years in organizing the creative work of world-renowned violinist Gidon Kremer and the chamber orchestra Kremerata Baltica. She played a key role in ensuring the orchestra’s concert activities in Latvia, the Baltic states, and prestigious concert halls and music festivals around the world, helping to raise the profile of Latvia and promote Latvian classical music at the highest international professional level.
Thanks to Zemzare’s professional expertise and personal qualities, countless listeners and music professionals in Latvia, the Baltics, and around the world have discovered and come to appreciate the beauty of Latvian music and the outstanding artistry of its performers. In 2012, in recognition of her contributions to Latvian culture, musicological research, and the promotion of Latvian composers internationally, she was appointed an Officer of the Order of the Three Stars. For her outstanding and dedicated contribution to Latvia’s professional music sector and to enhancing its international reputation, she was also awarded the Cabinet of Ministers Certificate of Recognition.
Until an open competition is announced for the position of board member of Kremerata Baltica, the duties of interim head of the organization will be carried out by Daina Markova, former board member of the Latvian National Opera and Ballet and Executive Director of the 27th Latvian Song and 17th Dance Festival.
